Bloom

During the spring semester of my junior year, I had the opportunity to participate in a hands on, furniture building class. In collaboration with two classmates, Bryce Patterson and Mark Boyd, we created Bloom.

Bloom is a handmade side table thoughtfully designed with solid mahogany and sleek acrylic. Its purpose is imaginative- users can decide to use it as a plant stand or simply table to display various trinkets. Regardless, at the heart of Bloom’s design are its four carefully placed acrylic shelves, which hold a removable wooden coaster when not in use. Before Bloom came to its final form, our process began with an acrylic prototype, evolving through iterations that explored varying wood types, shelf sizes, and orientations.
